Employers say 50% of export workers could lose jobs in 2009 as orders slow

Djimanto, secretary general of Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), told as many as half workers in Indonesian export-oriented industries might lose their jobs or be suspended due to global economic crisis that has extremely attacked the export growth. Djimanto added that most enterprises had failed to secure fresh orders from overseas for the second quarter of 2009. Aviliani, an economic analyst from INDEF, acceded companies were facing hard trial that would make them trim their employees.
